The owners of Les Rochers Restaurant & Boutique wanted a similar concept to their previous restaurant.

The new restaurant has the appearance and detail that visually ties it back and makes reference to the original restaurant, located on the property adjacent.

 

The majority of the construction materials were sourced locally on the island. The grey granite rocks for the cladding were broken and shaped on site and the Latanier leaves were collected and dried on the property.

 

The building façades are completely cladded in the locally sourced silver Grey granite rocks and the roof is thatched with Latanier leaves. The use of a single material for the facades creates a strong image which in turn represents the brand of the business.

Located on the western coast of Praslin, it was important to take into consideration the strong monsoon winds which batters this coastline, 6 months of the year. The simple traditional design with a slight modern twist, allows the building to connect to its surroundings, creating a strong sense of place and supporting the development of cultural identity.

 

The Lighting Fixtures, Furniture and some of the decorations were designed by our studio.
