The office was tasked with the renovation and extension of a small Family hotel business at Cote D’Or, Praslin. The owners were very keen to create a project which would stand out from their competitors.

The design concept for this project was heavily influenced by our local traditions and the Creole spirit.

The design explores lightness, filtering natural breezes, layers of transparency and integrating indoor / outdoor spaces within dynamic patterns of light and shadow. The Structures are open and light, and possess simple sustainable design principles to passively defend the occupants from the elements.

The interiors have a modern, functional and rustic 'chic' design inspired by the Creole open living concept. Pieces created by local artists and craftsmen are integrated into the design, offering a welcoming vibe and plenty of authentic touches.

The restaurant was designed to make one feel like a true islander.

All the buildings have been constructed using mostly locally available materials such as Takamaka, coconut and Bodamyen hardwood, granite rocks, timber decking and terrazzo flooring, latanier leaves, reclaimed wood and drift wood. The design incorporated innovative use of these local materials which helps make this place special, unique and authentic.
