Concept for Restaurant & Bar for Private Client
Belle Vue, La Digue
The aim was to integrate the restaurant structure within the forest, whereby, guests would enjoy the experience of dining amongst the trees and watching the wildlife. The structure will celebrate the natural forest setting providing its occupants with an inextricable relationship to the landscape and sensitive to surrounding environment. The high pitched, thatched roof with exposed beams, will merge and be part of the forest canopy.
Perched on the rock cliff, the restaurant will offer breath taking panoramic views of the ocean and the island below. The Structure will be open, light and possess simple sustainable design principles to passively defend the occupants from the elements. The roof overhangs are generous, protecting the structure from direct sunlight and heavy rainfall, especially during windy conditions.
The combination of the traditional architecture with a modern twist, the local materials used and handcrafted, will create a strong sense of place and an atmosphere which will be both, harmonious and comforting.
